Your Wedding Photography: Why It Matters Most on Your Wedding Day
I know what you’re thinking. Of course I believe that wedding photography is the most important part of your wedding day–I’m a wedding photographer! Even though I capture about 10+ weddings a year (primarily in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania region) it doesn't mean I’m completely biased. Let me explain not only why I believe that wedding day photography matters the most, but how knowing this ahead of time will make your day run more smoothly!
Wedding Photography–More Than Just a Photo
What’s the one thing you walk away with (besides a new husband or wife!) from your wedding day? Apart from the memories in your head and heart, it’s the physical memories you’ll reflect on that are found in your wedding day photography. That’s why even at zero-guest elopements, wedding photographers are often the ONLY vendor the couple hires.
When you look at your wedding photos, I want you to remember feeling like you walked on clouds. To feel again the joy of your friends and family as they celebrated with you. It’s the moments that last a minute or even seconds that you can hold onto when they are photographed. I also hope you choose a few images that can be used as heirloom-quality photos for the next generation. Wedding day photography can be a gift you share with kids and grandkids that shows your love shining through.
Wedding Day Photography is a Team Effort
No matter how big or small the wedding, the wedding photographer is part of a team working to make your day perfect. It’s the greatest day of your life, right? That’s why each one of us from the florist, to the DJ and the caterer, are doing everything to make your day just right. That’s why you hired professionals!
It’s a team effort to bring the vision of your day to life. And as I have witnessed firsthand, there are some really great and professional vendors out there and there are some that are not. Make sure you properly vet each and every vendor you select, even if you book an all-inclusive venue. Just because a vendor is the #1 recommendation of the venue doesn’t mean they are the best fit for your day.
What Your Wedding Photographer Does That Matters Most
So, what exactly am I here for? Besides capturing the most important moments of the day, I’m here to be exactly what you need: a friend, a confidant, or just a support as you walk through the best day of your life! After getting to know you from our time planning together, I then walk alongside you for the most intimate parts of your wedding day. You want your wedding day photography to be captured by someone you trust. A photographer who captures your photos while being sensitive to your preferences and insecurities!
Primarily, I work in direct coordination with the wedding planner. Together, we are the keepers of your timeline. The wedding planner makes sure that we are on time and I work to get every dream shot in a way that doesn’t put us off schedule. Thinking quickly on my feet and keeping to the timeline is what ensures your entire day runs smoothly!
A Wedding Photographer Who Understands Being a Bride
My wedding day photographer became my hero. She encouraged me to feel confident in front of the camera, and even showed me her screen a few times as an example of what she was capable of creating. She helped my camera-shy husband forget that he was being photographed and truly be present in the moment. The entire day felt that much easier with her. It never felt like a transaction, it felt like a breeze. When we got the images back, we were blown away. This is what I strive for with every one of my couples!
I get close and I stand back. I look around, and I get reactions and actions as they are happening. I set up moments and then watch them unfold. I am sensitive to you two– what’s important to you is important to me. As one couple pointed out to me at the end of our day together, “You made this day memorable.” Working with couples like you is a constant reminder why wedding day photography really matters.
Are you choosing your wedding vendors? I can recommend some really awesome ones in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area that I love to work with!
